The last time I checked in here, I was hoping that I would be at 30 pounds lost by the end of June. Well, I didn’t quite make it. My husband has been off his diet plan so it means I’ve been sucked down the rabbit hole with him. Yeah, there’s been a few ice cream cheats and I’m back eating basically as many carbs as I can consume. But the good news is, I’m at my lowest weight ever. I made it to 28 pounds lost total, which is just two shy of my goal despite cheating. I’m pretty good with that! Even if I only lose 3 pounds per month for the next year, I’d still lose another 36 pounds for a total of 64 pounds lost. I’d be okay with that 😉
I’m trying to balance out any cheating with lots of exercise, and I think I’ve been doing a fabulous job of that. I’ve been walking or doing some form of exercise basically every day. And the big news is that I conquered that dreaded 25 minute run not once, but TWICE! Today I ran Couch to 5k Week 7 Day 2 and it wasn’t really that difficult. Though I know that at some point I’m going to have to speed up my snail’s pace. I’m running 15-16 minute miles right now. The good thing is that Week 8 only increases by consecutive run time by 3 minutes, and Week 9 by another 2 minutes. I KNOW that I’ll be able to run those, which is an amazing feeling. After I finish Couch to 5k, I’ll work up to being able to run for an ACTUAL 5k distance consecutively. Right now, running for 25 minutes straight is only about a mile and a half for me. That’s a long way away from 3.2 miles! =)
The other exciting update is that I had to go shopping at the mall last week to buy new jeans, because I lost a pants size and none of my jeans fit me anymore! And the sad news is that I also lost a bra cup size, so I had to buy a few new bras from Victoria’s Secret while I was out. 🙁 But that’s okay, I’m feeling great and I know I’m healthier.
My favorite effect of my 28 pounds lost is the fact that my feet don’t hurt anymore! It was the real reason I started doing this in the first place, and I almost forgot to think about it because I’ve been so obsessed with the scale value instead of what really matters. I’m no longer hobbling around with sore feet from plantar fasciitis, which is fantastic because I was actually getting injections in my feet at my peak pain level.
Anyway, my mini goal now is to have to buy a new swimsuit for my honeymoon which is probably going to be in August. Not a bikini (yet) but something cute and colorful instead of the black ones I always buy. 🙂
