I had all these great intentions for this blog and then I mostly just abandon it. But I’m going to take the effort from a 1 to about a 5 this year, and try to actually contribute to this blog more often.
This year, my goal isn’t to do “my favorite” way of losing weight, which is to completely focus 100% for a month or two, drop some pounds, and then binge back some of the pounds. While I did end up about 30 pounds down for the end of the year in 2013, I know that I could have done better if I hadn’t been so hardcore for months at a time. Because then, I finally break and explode and need to eat ALL THE THINGS. Which was my December. I gained 3.6 pounds in December (which I have mostly gotten rid of already in January) but it was because I felt so deprived. Instead, I want to slow burn my way through losing another 25 pounds this year. It’s not a massive goal – but it will put me down to 155 pounds which is a number I can’t even imagine. I need to look at my fitness and weight loss progress as a long term effort and lifestyle, rather than something that has a 4 week deadline.
The fitness camp I belong to (Mission Fit Camp, which is awesome by the way) is doing a Biggest Loser contest this month. While I was super gung-ho about it at first, I’ve decided that I don’t want to stress out about it and end up focusing all my attention this month on weight loss when I have the whole year ahead of me. I’m tracking everything I’m eating and being diligent — but I wasn’t about to let my husband’s birthday pass without being able to celebrate it with him at a tasty restaurant. I’m going to do this smart, and make it a lifestyle that I can do for the long haul. If that means that I need a little treat now and then, I’m not going to keep guilting myself over it — that’s no way to live!
We just booked a trip to Hawaii for our honeymoon on March 20th, which is just over two months. I’m setting a soft goal of losing 10 pounds before then. I’d love to be 170 by the time we go, because I know with the libations on a tropical island I will end up indulging myself. I really want to be down another 10 pounds before then so I don’t set back my yearly goal too much. 🙂 This month is all about Fit Camp, Zumba, horseback riding, hiking, running, and getting my ass out of this chair and doing things in the beautiful outdoors. It’s 80 degrees this week in January — what a shame if I don’t take advantage of it!
