I said I was going to blog every day but I really think that’s too optimistic. I have enough stuff going on! But I do want to make sure to update at least once a week so I have a good ‘diary’ of my progress and thoughts along the way. This week has been kind of tough on keto. The break that I took made me realize how much I love having a variety of food, and I’m still utterly sick of keto-style foods. Bacon, cheese, butter, meat — these are all things that I used to be in love with but when they make up the bulk of your diet you start to get bored. It doesn’t matter what kind of new exciting recipes I try, it’s always just the same limited ingredients combined in different ways and presentations.
However, the scale has certainly benefited. I started the week at 177.6 and finished up at 172.1. Which by the way — is my lowest adult weight in my lifetime. 🙂 It’s weird though, because I don’t feel that light yet. I’m still in the ‘bogged down’ stage of starting keto where I feel like I’m eating foods that clog me up and I feel so full all the time.
Here’s a picture of where I’m at right now:
I should have taken a side pic too just for comparison’s sake with future photos, but I think this photo helps me realize that I have lots a decent amount of weight. (The spots on my belly are actually on the mirror — I don’t have some kind of disease). Right now I’d really like to lose more inches from my arms because I’m in the planning stages of an awesome half-sleeve tattoo and I’m worried about getting it and then losing a bunch of weight on my arms.
Exercise-wise I haven’t done much. I went hiking on Friday and had an absolutely miserable time. Normally I have no problem making it up the mountain, but this time I was so fatigued I couldn’t even go up half of it. My legs felt like rubber and I actually had to sit down for a bit to prevent them from giving out on me. I went 1.68 miles at a snail’s pace. I am going to blame my keto transition and the sugar detox and just an overall lack of energy. So frustrating!
Saturday I rode my horse for a pretty long ride and I’m feeling the pain from it for sure. My body is exhausted and my muscles in my legs and back feel so sore. I’m normally not sore at all from riding, so I’m not sure what’s going on. Overall I just feel a bit more fatigue, so I’m hoping that goes away soon.
Food-wise I have been doing well with no cheating (okay, I had one spoonful of my husband’s chocolate malt at dinner). I made a casserole last weekend that I ate for 4 days straight while my husband was out of town. I ate Chipotle once, and had a Jersey Mike’s sub-in-a-tub (no bread). I ate a Five Guys burger, a Burger Lounge burger, and a Wendy’s Burger. In general, I ate out more than I’d like to last week — but I didn’t buy enough groceries and my husband wasn’t eating keto so he would want us to go out. We shopped yesterday though, and I have a week’s worth of tasty meals. Last night I made a keto milkshake out of protein powder, almond milk, cocoa, coconut oil, erhythritol, ez-sweetz, vanilla extract, heavy cream, ice, and instant coffee. It was really delicious and helped to satisfy my craving for dessert.
Anyway, that’s my weekly update. Things are going well, this week should be another good week though I know I won’t see those kind of crazy weight loss numbers again.
