I belong to a workout/fitness boot camp called Mission Fit Camp. I started it last October and continued it through the end of January before taking a break from it, and I’ve just gotten back into it for the July session. The general format is that there is an assessment at the beginning of each month so you can track your progress. Each session is a one-hour intense workout in a cute little park in Mission Hills San Diego taught by Gwen Swain, who is a totally badass athlete and entrepreneur. Every day there are 4 time slots to pick from, and each day we work on a different muscle group. Monday was cardio/core, Tuesday was arms/circuit, Wednesday is legs/agility, and Thursday is chest/back. Sundays are full body day. The pace is fast, the people are fun, and it’s great to be outdoors. It’s also pretty affordable considering how fit you can get in the camp, so all-in-all it’s been a good way to motivate myself to get out there and work out.
My July assessment results were not great since my fitness regime has fallen to the wayside in the past 6 months.
July 2014 Assessment Results:
Pushups: 25 (-3)
Crunches: 46 (-1)
Wall Sit: 0:51 (-1:15)
Mile: 11:28 (+1:33)
Weight: #182.8 (-1.4 lbs)
Body Fat: 33.5% (+.3%)
Waist: 37.75″ (-3 inches)
Hip: 44.25″ (-0.75″)
My wall sit was my worst time ever, but I basically gave up early because I didn’t want my legs to be jelly for the mile run. My pushups and crunches were decent, which was surprising. Compare/contrast with my results in January:
January 2014 Assessment Results:
Wall Sit: 2:36
Body Fat: 33.2%
So there you have it. I lost inches/centimeters in my waist/hips and also lost weight, but my body fat percentage went up ever so slightly. Looking forward to hitting the workouts this month (though I’m going to Virginia Beach for a week starting next weekend, so who knows what will happen while I am there).---------------
