I was planning to title this post “Weekend Recap” but then I realized that there is probably more to talk about than just the weekend. That’s fueled by the fact that I’m doing a terrible job of keeping this space updated. Then again, I have basically no readers so I guess if it’s just for myself – what does it matter if I’m slacking in my post cadence? =D
+ I picked up some Silk Soymilk Holiday Nog from Whole Foods tonight, and I think it’s basically made my life right now. It’s creamy and tastes just like real egg nog without the nasty egginess. There is a recipe on the side for a cinnamony egg nog french toast and it’s quickly shot up to the top of my “recipes to make” list. Yum! Maybe it will finally feel like fall weather, because the 75-80 degrees outside certainly isn’t helping things!
+ I’m getting excited about my parents coming to visit for Christmas! We ended up booking their flight for them and they’re covering the hotel costs. The last time they were here was our wedding and it was a short chaotic trip. Looking forward to spending some time relaxing for the holiday again. Just trying to figure out where we should eat, because they’re devoted meat eaters and well, we’re not. Definitely planning a trip to Julian to get apple pie!
– I have been the most mood swinging person as of late. Somedays I feel super restless and unsatisfied with everything, and other times I’m in a fantastic mood. I’ve been bad at taking my Lexapro regularly and allergies have been somewhat kicking my ass, so maybe that has something to do with it? No clue.
+ I’m hitting boot camp hard and feeling pretty good about my progress. Last week I went five times and in addition to lifting, did about 1.75 miles of running each day as well. I also rode my horse several times and went for more than one walk. I’m enjoying being active and I can feel myself getting into better cardio shape every day. My triceps are totally bulging right now too, so it’s pretty rad.
– Which leads me to talk about my sugar problem. I’m seriously doing super bad with this and I need to break the cravings cycle bad. It feels like every day I’ve eaten a donut, or cookie, or sugary Starbucks drink. I know I’m working out diligently, but I’m sure it’s not balancing things out. Though I’m not gaining any weight, I’ve been losing slowly over the past few weeks. Either way, I know sugar is bad for me and I hate having daily cravings for anything so I’ve gotta get my ass in motion and cut that shit out ASAP.
+ My husband and I have made a pact to walk our dogs every day, and aside from a couple exceptions we’ve been doing really good. We have a nice big yard for them to run around in, but walks are so much better for all of us. The walks are short and happen after dinner when it’s dark and there aren’t as many other dogs out in the neighborhood. Our dogs are super dog aggressive while on leash, which leads to embarrassing noisy situations. Now if I could just get everyone to leash their dogs so we don’t have any potentially dangerous chance encounters, that would be great.
+ My ranch had a Halloween costume contest on Sunday, with the winner getting a discount on their next month’s board. I loved seeing all the kids dressed up. Some people made such extravagant costumes for their horses! I can’t imagine having to clean all that up afterward! We only stayed for a short time to say hello and then headed out, but it was pretty cute.
+ Speaking of the ranch, I had a good lesson last week which ended up turning into a training ride for Rosie with her trainer. I decided to put her in half training, which means that she’ll be ridden twice a week (Tues/Thurs) and then I’ll take a lesson on Saturdays. I think right now that she needs a little reminder from a professional. My trainer is having a blast riding her, which is great because she is SUCH a fantastic and well-broke horse. I’m so proud of her. I can’t wait to see how fast she progresses now that she’s in full training!
+ I went and saw Hall & Oates on Saturday night. This was….interesting. They sounded really good, though I didn’t actually know many of their 70’s songs. I was impressed with how much these old men could rock! The crowd was super into it too, dancing and singing along and having a blast. Unfortunately we were 6 songs late, but we only missed “Maneater” and we arrived in time to hear “She’s Gone” and “You Make My Dreams Come True” along with “Private Eyes”, so all was good in the end.
+ Luke and I went to a 5-course vegan prix fixe popup restaurant meal on Sunday night. I’m going to share pictures and notes of the experience, but I have to say that it was awesome. The food wasn’t very adventurous (it was diner themed, so it was things like burgers, buffalo ‘wings’, grilled ‘cheese’ & tomato soup) but it was tasty and simple.
+ I started a vegan food blog, so please feel free to read it!
I should have more exciting stuff to talk about soon, as lots of things are in the works! Hope everyone is doing well. 🙂---------------
