Now that I’m pregnant and not riding as much, I’ve been going back and forth on what to do about Rosie. My ideas have ranged from selling her, to moving her, to leasing her, to keeping her where she is. I’m currently ‘satisfied’ with our arrangement.
She’s been in partial training at her current barn since October, which was great. She got a nice little tune-up and got worked 3-4 times per week. But unfortunately, the extra money per month from training is not in the cards anymore while we’ve got bills to pay down in preparation for baby. I decided I wanted to move her back to her previous ranch where she could have a huge pen to relax in while she was on ‘leave’ from being worked. Unfortunately, it turned out that the ranch is full and there are 3 horses in front of us on the waiting list. Poopy.
Luckily, a spot opened up on our current farm in one of the larger wood paddocks. It’s not huge, but it’s longer and it’s enough space for her to pick up a trot if she’s so inclined. And, luckily, her neighbor is my good friend’s pony Potencia! So it’s nice that they get to be buddies and we can keep an eye on each other’s horses. So far, Rosie seems super stoked with her new pen. I’m not 100% sure what I’ll do if/when a spot opens up at her other ranch. We’re talking about selling our house and re-buying a bit more north, so Rosie’s current barn is optimal for that. We’ll just have to see! For now, have some pics!
