Right now, I feel pretty “woe is me”. I feel horrible, I have no energy, I’m not DOING anything fun or social or entertaining. I’m waking up, eating (sometimes unsuccessfully), moping around feeling sick to my stomach, then passing out as soon as humanly possible. I was thinking that jotting down a list of some of the things that I actually enjoy doing might inspire me to get going and actually DO some of them.
+ Photography. I was really going along at a good little clip for awhile, learning the ins and outs of my dSLR and even taking some classes. A big reason that I’m not taking as many photos is that I’m not surrounded by a bunch of people that I show horses with anymore, and that was my #1 inspiration and source of photo-taking. But I could be attending classes and improving my photo-taking skills, especially since I have a little one on the way that will end up being the subject of many portraits.
+ Gardening. At our previous rental house, we put together a nice sized square garden and had a blast growing vegetables. When we moved into the new house, there wasn’t a lot of inspiration to start a real garden, but I did buy some pots and soil so I could do some container gardens. Unfortunately, my dogs destroyed the crops and we ended up with nothing. I haven’t gotten up the motivation to try again, but hopefully our new home will have some kind of separated area for a garden (or we’ll have to build one). I miss having fresh homegrown veggies to cook up!
+ Coding. For awhile I was teaching myself how to program and I had a couple side projects under way. Everything has basically taken a backburner now though, and I have little energy to focus on learning something new. But I do want to get more into this again.
+ Writing. For awhile, I was doing a little self-publish gig where I was writing and publishing stories on Amazon for quite a bit of nice side income. Like most things, I lost steam and eventually abandoned this, causing my profits to plummet and my motivation to dwindle. I want to get back into it though, so I’ve joined a couple of group writing projects that will hopefully give me the kick I need to get going.
+ Reading. I don’t really have a book that I’m devouring right now. I’ve been slowly going through Being Mortal, but I’m not enjoying it as much as I thought. I wanted it to be grittier but it’s mostly been focused on elderly quality of life issues in nursing homes/assisted living, which isn’t super interesting to me. I need a good fantasy series to dive into, or maybe a nice lightweight YA fiction.
+ Hiking / Exercising. I have an excuse for this one. I have no energy. But I miss being outside in the sunshine, soaking up that vitamin D and enjoying San Diego’s beautiful scenery. Trimester 2, I’m coming for you.---------------
