Woohoo! As of yesterday I am 15 weeks pregnant! Wow! I can’t believe it. That means next week, I’ll be four months pregnant which is just crazy. It feels like just yesterday I peed on a stick and saw that second line. Well, honestly, that’s a lie. My first trimester was super rough, morning sickness wise. 🙁
How big is baby: Depending on which app I choose to look at, baby is as big as either a Hass avocado or a navel orange. His joints and limbs can all move now, and he can hold his head up inside my uterus. He’s practicing breathing by swallowing amniotic fluid, and his heart is pumping a bunch of blood now. His eyes are making their way to the front of his head and his ears are going to the sides. This means he looks like a real person more than ever! His legs are finally longer than his arms and is measuring about 4 inches long now.
Sleep: Sleep is tricky. I get really exhausted at night around 9:30-10:00pm, but I toss and turn for at least two hours before I can fall asleep. I get up to pee at least 3 times during the night, sometimes as much as 5! I do have a Snoogle, which was great but I’ve put it in the closet because I think it could have been causing some lower back pain. My growing belly is starting to get more uncomfortable to maneuver around.
Maternity clothes: Oh yes, almost 100% of my pants are now maternity. I have gained a lot of weight, though I’m not tracking it so I can’t share just how much. I have made several purchases from Old Navy though. I refuse to pay a lot for maternity clothes, because my goal is not to spend much time in them after birth. I have a couple of jeans, a couple of shorts, a dress or two, and some cute t-shirts and tanks that are all maternity-friendly. Stretchy pants are THE BEST.
How I am feeling: If you’d asked me a week ago, I’d have said TERRIBLE. But the last 3-4 days have been amazingly better. I’m not 100% yet – I still get nauseous off and on, especially at night. I’m still taking Diclegis, but I feel a lot better. The last 2 days I’ve had a ton of energy – which is good because we’re getting ready to list our house and I have a ton of projects to take on. I’m sleepy off-and-on throughout the day, but I blame that on Diclegis. I also have acid reflux/heartburn, so I’m on Prevacid for that. I have tons of hunger and am often out of breath as well. I also have more boogers (ew!) and even had a bloody nose for the first time in 10 years.
Belly growth: It’s getting huge. I’ve gone from a size 14 jeans to a size 18. It’s also very weird feeling. The top of it (just underneath my ribs) feels all tight and hard. The lower part is bloated but way less tight. I have no idea if this is typical. I’m also ‘aware’ of my belly more than I ever was when it was smaller. I just notice its presence, which is strange!
Still riding Rosie?: Yep! I rode for about 30 minutes on Saturday, loped around and had a blast. I get tired much faster now, but I don’t feel any balance issues and it still feels great to be in the saddle.
Movement: None yet. I thought I felt flutters, but I think it was just gas. I have a frontal placenta, so it’s possible I won’t feel him move until around 20 weeks. We will see!
Food cravings: Pickles, sugar all the time, Subway subs (ew), breakfast cereal, Chipotle, Starbucks Iced Chai Tea Lattes.
Food aversions: Asian food, particularly Thai food and noodles. Coconut flavoring.
Missing….: Working out. I haven’t done any real exercise in awhile. I walked the dogs this week, rode Rosie, but other than that – I’ve been super lazy. Hopefully with this energy I’ll be able to get around more often and get some hikes in! Also, dying my hair! I have like 3 inch roots because I haven’t dyed my hair since December 15th. My half-shave is growing out all awkwardly and the purple has faded into pink. My hair is a downright mess right now, to be honest.
Gender: Baby boy!
What I’m looking forward to: Buying things! As of now, we’ve bought one Star Wars onesie and that is all! We’re holding off buying anything until we move into a new house, but boy is it difficult. I can’t wait to decorate his nursery.
