Yesterday, my mom and best friend threw me the first (of two) baby showers, so I flew to Minnesota for the long weekend. I arrived on Thursday evening, went to a good dinner with my parents. Friday, my mom and I spent the whole day shopping for decorations, picking up the cake and eating utensils, buying party favors, and then wrapping up all the prizes for the ‘dice game’. I spent Friday evening hanging out with some longtime friends (which was a blast) and then Saturday I woke up early to start decorating, making punch, and preparing for the day.
I was really impressed with the turnout. I believe we had about 35 people there, which was more than I thought. The funny thing is that I didn’t even see the invite list — my mom basically took care of it all. So every guest that walked in was a surprise! I ended up meeting some new people that are friends with my parents, rekindling some old friendships, and getting to see family that I haven’t seen in years. My 2nd grade teacher was even there!
We had a delicious and adorable cake but here’s a fun fact: it was supposed to be a safari cake that said “King of the Jungle” but the bakery spelled it “Kind of the Jungle” which doesn’t even make sense. My mom also catered Italian food from my favorite place here, and we had punch, soda, sangria, the works. I got a bunch of truly adorable clothes, books, toys, and other useful items. One friend of my mom’s even handmade me some beautiful blankets and burp clothes that are space-themed, which is PERFECT for our nursery motif!
All in all, I was totally happy with the day. It couldn’t have gone better. 🙂 Have some pics!
