Oh jeez, day 3 and I already missed it. I’m a big failure, so I guess I’ll try to get two posts up today so I can at least “win” for posting 31 days in August. Let’s talk about our nursery, shall we?
Oh boy. Maybe I shouldn’t have shown my cards too early. We don’t have…much…going on in the nursery. A whole lot of boxes and clothes spread everywhere and the room has basically become the ‘catch all’ for anything related to baby. I highly doubt that his bouncer will live there, or his bottles, or his bath tub. But right now, we’ve been basically shoving all things baby out of sight & mind and into that room, safe from the dogs and safe from my stressed out eyes. Mostly, this is because we don’t have any of our big items yet. But thankfully, things are ordered and hopefully on their way soon!
My goal with the dresser was to get something stylish, something gray, a dresser that can double as a changing table, and also something that will look good in a little boy’s room for the long term. I just simply didn’t want to go with IKEA crap again, because we’ve had several dressers fall apart after a couple moves. Don’t get me wrong, I like being economical with furniture and I’m a big IKEA fan. But I’m currently on this kick where I’m mad at the fact that almost nothing we own in the house is heirloom-quality. I want to be able to hand things down someday, and so far there isn’t much for furniture here that would stand the test of time. Originally we were going to order our dresser from Pottery Barn Kids, but it would have come in much more expensive than this. I’m just happy we finally have this ordered so we can put away and organize his little tiny clothes!
The great thing about this crib is that it changes into a toddler bed so that he can use it long term. I really admire the looks of this and I think it will look nice in his room. I’m a little concerned about there being too much gray in his room, but with all the pops of color from space decals and decorations it should be okay. Baby won’t use his crib for a few months, but we’re pretty excited about him having a nice and functional nursery when he’s old enough to sleep in his own room.
We’ve only just started beginning to buy decorations, but since we’re going with a space theme everything is spacey themed. 🙂
So that’s it for now! We still need to buy a glider chair, but otherwise we’re onto waiting for everything to arrive so we can get all settled and set everything up. 🙂---------------
