9am: Henry wakes up by grunting a bit, rolling back and forth from side to side for a bit, then laying flat on his back and lets out loud piercing coos. I am always already awake by now, enjoying the peaceful quiet before the storm. He’s been nursing at this point off and on since around 7:30am, quietly and without opening his eyes. He wakes up happy and ready to play.
9:15am: I sit Henry up and prop him up in bed with a pillow and we sing songs. I give him 10 minutes or so to get all of his morning pee out. Today’s a weekend day, so Luke is sometimes still sleeping. Depending how loud we are being, sometimes we will wake him up.
9:30am: We go in for a diaper change. It’s a heavy loaded diaper containing all of his overnight pee. He’s cheerful and happy, because he is on his favorite place (the changing table) and it’s the morning – what’s to be unhappy about? I’ll usually keep him in his pajamas at this point, waiting for his first poop of the day so I don’t soil a fresh outfit.
9:45am: We go out into the living room to nurse. Usually this is a short feeding session because he already ate so much in bed. We play a bit and sing a couple songs together. He spits up and poops.
10:10am: I put Henry in the car seat to go get coffee with mama. He gets his toys and likes to watch himself in the mirror. He’s cheerful and smiley and chatters most of the way. We go to a drive-thru Starbucks most days because sometimes he falls asleep before we can even get there. If he’s asleep when I get home, I’ll drive around the neighborhood or sit in the driveway a bit to give him those precious extra moments of sleep.
10:30: Back inside the house. Mama and daddy drink their coffee while Henry has floor time. He starts out on his tummy and we cheer him on to get him to roll over. Then he lays on his back and plays with toys.
11:15am: Time for a walk with Krogan. I wear Henry and he enjoys the 30 minute walk around the neighborhood. Sometimes he falls asleep, but usually not anymore.
12:00pm: I nurse Henry and he usually falls asleep. This is a short nap generally.
1:00pm: Henry wakes up and needs to poop. I sit him in the bouncey seat (aka the poop chair) and give him toys to chew on until he poops.
1:30pm: We go run and get lunch somewhere at a sit-down restaurant. Henry sits on one of our laps and we take turns holding him and eating since he isn’t big enough to sit in a high chair yet.
3:30pm: Oops, Henry thinks he’s starving. I nurse him in the car a little to keep him happy.
4pm: Home again. Change the baby again (pee or poop).
4:15pm: Nap time! I lay down in bed with Henry and nurse him while on my side. He falls asleep after 10 minutes of eating and I stay with him the whole time. I’ll read a book on my phone, watch Netflix/Hulu, or browse Facebook/Reddit. This is usually his long nap.
6:15pm: We sit down to play with toys again. We do 20 minutes in the Jumperoo, then play in the piano gym, then tummy time in the rainforest gym, then we practice sitting up and playing with a toy. This whole process is repeated sometimes, and we will add in songs, lots of kisses and cuddles, story books, clapping, and airplane. Whatever keeps him entertained. 🙂
7:15pm: Luke is cooking dinner and I go into the living room to nurse him. This is usually the first time I watch TV all day. Henry eats and he’s awake again.
7:30: Dinner’s ready! Henry sits in the bouncey chair on the dining room table and we talk to him while we eat. He usually plays with a toy and kicks his feet.
8:15pm: Hang out in the living room with mama and dada. We pass him back and forth, play with him, talk to him, sing songs and enjoy his company.
8:45pm: time for bedtime routine! Luke takes Henry to the nursery, puts on his pjs and his nighttime diaper, then reads him a story or two in the glider chair.
9:00pm: I’m lying in bed, waiting for baby. Luke brings him in, gives him a goodnight kiss, and lays him next to me before going back into the living room. Henry nurses for 10-20 minutes and falls into a deep sleep.
11:30: Henry stirs and wants to nurse. I am still awake in bed with him, reading. I nurse him for 5 minutes and he’s out.
3am: Henry’s hungry. He stirs without opening his eyes and latches himself on. I barely wake up and he doesn’t either.
6am: Hungry again. I switch sides and nurse him on the other breast and he falls back asleep in 5 minutes. I do too.
7:30am: Hungry again. I switch sides again and feed him again. He is back asleep in 5 minutes.
9am: Henry’s awake and we do it all over again! 🙂
