Hi everyone, and welcome to The Hungry Horse Girl! I’m Tami, I’m 32 years old, and I live in beautiful San Diego (and have for almost 9 years). I’m a lover of many things: my amazing son Henry, babywearing, natural parenting, breastfeeding (though I’m not preachy about it), the environment, gardening, eating healthy foods, the Internet, eating delicious food at tasty restaurants, riding horses, reading books, playing video games and partaking in other nerdy activities, craft beer and wine, bad reality television shows, startup culture and creating products, reading countless blogs, feminism/social justice, pop culture, indie pop, fitness and health, real estate! I work as a video game producer by day and I’m so fortunate to work from home.
I named this blog The Hungry Horse Girl a few years ago, though I’m not sure it’s an accurate name anymore. My horse at the time, Rosie, was a very hungry horse, literally all the time. I had to sell my horse in July 2016, so I’m horseless for the first time in a very long time. I’m not changing the blog yet, because I’m always hungry and I still love horses and don’t plan to be permanently out of the horse world.
In the summer of 2016, my table flipped out from under me. My husband of 3 years (and partner for almost 9) informed me that he wanted a divorce, that he didn’t love me romantically anymore. We had an 8 month old son at the time, so this was not only a shock but it was terrifying as well. Though he’s a great dad and an involved parent, I still am very much having to do things alone. I’m a full-time single mom, a full-time work from home employee for a great company doing challenging and awesome things, and I also have an old Min Pin to care for.
This blog is a true look at my life – the good, the bad, the challenging, and the amazing moments. My son Henry is the sweetest, most special, most wonderful aspect of my life. I’m constantly urging myself to be better for him.
