This week I’ve been in San Francisco and I’ve actually had a decent time sticking to a paleo diet. The good thing about being up here is that our studio caters in lunches every single day and they’re very flexible with gluten-free and paleo options. I believe one day that the ‘paleo salad’ had a dressing on it that contained sugar, but mostly I’ve been eating a bunch of hamburgers without buns and chicken. I haven’t been able to follow the ‘grass fed’ meat rule because I can really only eat what’s delivered to me since I cannot cook for myself. But once I get back home I’m going to hit up the Farmers Market on Sunday to get some tasty fresh foods.
Also while I’ve been here I’ve completed the second two runs for Couch to 5K Week 3 on the treadmill. In some respects, running on a treadmill is easier than running outside. The terrain isn’t varied, the room is nice and air conditioned, and I can watch TV while running. But on the flip side, I found that it hurt my feet/legs more to run on the treadmill than it does outside. It wasn’t too difficult to complete, but I’m considering running another extra Week 3 run over the weekend outdoors so that I can prepare for running Week 4 all outside next week.
I’m a bit nervous to step on a scale when I get home. Since I made a diet switch this week and haven’t been able to check in on my progress, I could actually be gaining weight throughout the week. I hope not because I’ve been on my best behavior, but I did have 3 glasses of red wine one day. Oops.
This weekend I’m looking forward to riding my horse, watching the Kentucky Derby, going to dinner for my birthday with a couple friends, and relaxing after a week away from home. I’m also going to go to Crossfit on Sunday and sign up for my membership! Preparing to hurt….---------------
