Last night I decided that it was time to get off my ass and get back to the gym. For a number of reasons, ranging from doctor’s appointments, a new medicine that makes me nauseous and tired, and work travel…I haven’t really gone to Barry’s Boot Camp in a couple weeks. Actually, fuck it – no excuses. I was just being lazy and it was hard to stay motivated throughout Thanksgiving.
I was sitting here and I read this amazing story on Skinny Meg of this woman who has lost over 100 pounds in 11 months and gotten super buff and fit while doing it — and I realized I’m not getting any healthier or thinner by sitting on my ass playing video games. (Someone invent that video game diet, plz!) So I forced myself to go to the 8pm boot camp class and got my HardCORE Abs night on with one of my favorite instructors.
This class is hard. You spend 50% of the class on a treadmill, alternating between tread and floor every 6 minutes. On the tread we had to do lots of running last night in various speeds and intervals. I finished the evening at 2.05 miles, so just over 15 minute miles. Not great, but considering some of it was at an 8% incline I’ll take it. And I felt like I was going to vomit for most of it. On the floor we did lots of resistance band training with wood choppers, kettlebell swings, crunches & situps with medicine balls, lots of core work with forearm planks, and some sand ball slams. I burned just over 650 calories and my core is aching! Mission accomplished.
I got home, downed a protein shake (I love these chai flavored Vega shakes!) and now my body is so exhausted I want to pass out in bed and watch more of The Killing. Such a good show! No spoilers!---------------
