It’s that time of year where everyone makes totally inspirational posts about all the wonderful things they’re going to do in their lives this year. I’m not a huge resolution fan. Truthfully — I’ve always believed that if there is something about your life you want to change, you should change it immediately and not wait until the beginning of a new January to do it. So I tend to think of this in ‘goals’. Little life missions that you want to achieve this year, which could be an extension of things you’ve already been working on.
2014 was kind of a weird year for us. It was the second year in the 7 years of being with Luke that we haven’t moved to a new home. We didn’t have any extremely major life changes, aside from me getting a new job that’s 100% more incredible than the previous one I had. I didn’t really accomplish anything major aside from doing pretty well on self-publishing stories to Amazon. I didn’t blog much, didn’t write and publish anything I’m particularly proud of. I did move my horse to two new barns, and while I’m not totally 100% satisfied in everything on that front — I’m super happy with my trainer and Rosie’s care, which makes up for any loneliness I feel. My dogs (the Boxers) are growing up and calming down, which is a big fucking deal in my world. We didn’t have any major losses, which made for a great year as far as I’m concerned. We are healthy, happy, and that’s all that matters.
Without further nonsense, here are my goals for 2015.
+ Fix my posture so I’m stretching upward more and keeping my shoulders back.
+ Continue taking at least one lesson a week, even if I can’t afford for Rosie to be in partial training anymore.
+ Buy dressage tack so I can putz around with Rosie
+ Buy new riding boots, both Western and English
+ Upgrade the things I have so I’m not using the same ol’ crap day after day (need new SMBs and saddle pad for starters)
+ Go to the ranch more and ride more. It’s so easy for me to make excuses on why I should stay home instead of head out there and spend time with my girl
+ Pick programming back up and complete a personal project this year
+ Take a class in something new, whether it’s fitness or otherwise
+ Read one self-help nonfiction book per month, for career or personal development
Fitness / Health
+ Run at least three 5k races (though I reserve the right to go back on this if I get pregnant)
+ Lose 20 pounds (though I reserve the right to go back on this if I get pregnant)
+ Continue eating vegan, or as close to it as I can. I’ve had a few slip-ups in December which I refuse to guilt myself over.
+ Go to boot camp at Barry’s at least two times a week (but preferably 3-4) for the remainder of 2014
+ Make one new good friend
+ Resolve to stay cleaner around the house, pick up after myself more, and clean the yard more often
+ Play more games that aren’t just World of Warcraft, make a dent in my Steam backlog (yeah, right)
+ Drink more water, less caffeine (coffee)
+ Take more photographs, participate in Project 365
+ Blog more, try for every day in 2015 but if not — at least 3 times a week!
